The God particle

In the beginning

Since the dawn of time, mankind has always looked for ways to understand and describe the universe around him. Science and physics have been fields of study through which we have sought language to describe the natural world.

In the early 1900's the scientific community discovered the atom. The atom consisted of three basic elements. These elements were photons, electrons and neutrons.  We understood that this basic building block was foundational to all molecular structures. By the 1960's physicists had discovered dozens of sub atomic particles but lacked the language of a unifying theory.

In the 1970's physicists developed what is called the "Standard Model." It is the Standard Model that has been used to bring order to mathematical explanations of the known universe. Central to the Standard Model is a particle that was theorized to be the key to all mater. First put forward by Peter Higgs, it became known as the Higgs particle. This particle is 1000 times smaller than a photon.  Without this central character in the equation of the Standard model, no matter of any kind stays together. It also became known as the "God Particle."

It is the God particle that holds all things together while giving mass or weight to other particles allowing them to join together in bonds. The Higgs or God particle is connected to a field that fills all of space. Without the Higgs, elementary particles would not have formed life as we know it. In the absence of the Higgs, the universe would simply be a collection of sub atomic particles floating around in a random cosmic soup. It would in fact be devoid of life.

In 1985 physicists proposed an experiment to prove or disprove the standard model. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was born in Geneva, Switzerland. It would cost some 5 billion dollars while taking 20 years to construct. The accelerator would be17 miles in circumference. Its job was to accelerate atomic particles to a velocity near the speed of light. Two beams were necessary, each traveling in opposite directions Once particles reached their maximum energy the space between the beams would be collapsed creating collisions at 4 data sites along the path. The four data gathering points are known as Atlas, LHCb, CMS and ALICE.  Each of these four experiments were looking for a different part of the puzzle.

The LHC is the largest machine ever built by man. Some ten thousand people from over a hundred countries would participate in its design and construction.  Many of these countries are mortal enemies.
Much of its components are hand fabricated, hand soldered and one of a kind.

Part of the reason behind the creation of the world wide web was so that over 100,000 computers could network globally to process the data.  The particle beams would be accelerated via super conducting magnets cooled by liquid helium to temperatures lower than deep space. The Atlas experiment alone involved some four thousand workers building what is in essence a five story tall camera.

The theory is that once you collide particles at high energy levels they shatter into their fundamental elements. It would in fact simulate what particle matter looked like just after the creation of the universe. Key to the experiment is the discover of the Higgs or God particle.

During the LHC's construction, two key theories were being embraced by particle physics in describing the universe. One was the incorporation of the decades old Standard Model into a larger theory called Super Symmetry. The second was that the universe over vast distances has no absolutes. This became known as the Multiverse approach. What can be described via mathematics here on earth would not hold true in some other pockets of the universe. If the Multiverse theory was right then no other particles beyond the Higgs would be discovered. Key to both theories is what is called the Cosmological Constant. If Super symmetry held true this value is constant through out the universe, if the Multiverse is true then this value is not constant meaning that life as we know it would not be found elsewhere.

The GeV (Gega Electron Volt) weight of the Higgs would reveal which direction the future holds. If the Higgs was relatively light (115 GeV), then the Standard Model would be proved right. If it was found to be heavy (140 GeV), it would move physicists toward the Multiverse model.

The first collision at CERN occurred on March 29, 2010. LHC lived up to everyone's expectation. In July 3, 2012 CERN announced that they had indeed discovered hard evidence of the God Particle and its weight was around 125 GeV. By being in the "middle," it neither confirmed nor denied either of the two current theories. It is hoped that in the next few years as the LHC is retrofitted to higher energy levels more will be revealed.

The Higgs "Bump" at CMS

What has physicists puzzled is the "middle of the road," weight. At 125 GeV the Higgs is unstable. While it was this particle that is foundational to creation, it can also destroy it. Unless they find other particles in support of Super Symmetry then at some juncture in time the Higgs could fail to bind together life as we know it. (the big bang in reverse) Atomic and Sub atomic particles will lose its mass and the known universe will explode or implode back into the cosmic soup where it came from.

Just as there is a scientifically proven "God particle," there is a equally provable "Spirit," that is foundational to life as we know it. Without this Spirit being imparted at inception, human life as we know it would never exist. Life is certainly a biological process in which the Higgs is a building block.  However it is mathematically difficult to prove that the Higgs could exist in its current weight without someone "turning the dials," through intelligent design.   With our current understanding, the Higgs does not fit into the Multiverse model nor can it be described via Super Symmetry. It has been given specific weight for a specific time via the wisdom of the Spirit of the living God.

This "Spirit" Higgs exists universally within all of life. Every grasshopper, tree as well as all life has this binding agent present. It is therefore active in every human being as well. However there is a very narrow door through which we must walk to have the power of the Spirit transformed from our biology into our consciousness or soul. God himself took human form to allow every race, every nation, to plug in and turn on to this power in their lives.

The "LHC," of this Spirits existence can be tangibly recorded with irrefutable evidence. Across the millennium various people from diverse backgrounds have recorded their experience. Evidence includes communication via languages they had no ability of knowing, words of wisdom, words of knowledge, various government skills, healing, dimensional shifts, translations across physical space, encounters with extra terrestrials, insights in solving problems,  along with the resurrection from the dead are all well documented evidence of the Spirits activity.

Just as there is but one universal Higgs, there is but one Spirit holding all of us together. To plug into this source of intellectual growth, peace, and power; all we need to do is walk through the door.  A door opened when God became flesh and dwelt among us. It doesn't take a 5 billion dollar experiment to prove it. All we need to do is walk through it into the enlightenment of God's fullness in our lives.

There is always need for some segment of our society to find freedom from the confines of the status quo. It is their obligation to explore the frontier and report back what is found. Having the power that binds all of life together, God chose to come to earth and live among us. The door of reconciliation is open to all who have the courage to walk through and take a chance.
